Installation
Download the latest family-history-planning archive from the repository's Releases, extract it, and copy the complete folder to ~/.claude/skills/family-history-planning/. Restart Claude Code and ask for the skill version to verify loading.
How to Use
Provide known names, dates, places, records, and the question to answer. The skill first creates a phased research plan; only after the plan and an explicit request does it search records, while logging searches, negative results, citations, and evidence weight.
Requirements
Planning needs no API key. Research execution may use external sites such as FamilySearch, LDS Genealogy, or Ancestry; some require accounts or subscriptions and receive searched names, places, and dates. Minimize and anonymize living-person, DNA, or sensitive family data, and confirm before online research.
